Hong Kong Election Campaign 2025 is a city wide multimedia campaign, consisting of 5 TV advertisements and various forms of OOH (Digital, Flags, leaflets, popup booths, bus wrap etc.).
As a part of the multimedia team, the challenge is to design and produce 3D animation and VFX background according to the brief. Working as a team, the production kicked off by spotlighting dancers of 3 age groups dancing in 6 iconic locations in Hong Kong (Victoria Harbour, Science park etc) along with the ballot box mascot representing each age group. As part of the art direction, the video campaign heavily relies on the playfulness of the stylised background and mascot.
The challenge is to figure out methods to present correct art style to visualise the iconic locations while flexibility for further iterations.

ROLE
MULTIMEDIA DESIGNER, 3D DESIGNER, POST PRODUCTION
Collaborating with art directors and the creative team, my team developed style frames for Hong Kong's iconic locations to complement the government's ballot box mascots and live-action dancers. We established a painterly and low ply game aesthetic across Victoria Harbour and five additional landmarks through simplified architectural elements, layered compositions, and consistent lighting and color palette. Working with creative directors, production teams, and client stakeholders, I contributed to a multi-platform design system ensuring visual consistency across TV, digital displays, and print applications including bus wraps, flags, and booth graphics. Through iterative feedback sessions, I provided design specifications and reference materials that enabled the production team to execute the campaign vision consistently across all deliverables.
The challenge throughout the project is the balance between artistic vision and realism of the respective Hong Kong location. Since it is a large scale and high stakes project, our team has to narrow down the assets which needs to be accurate and recognisable with the client. While paying homage to the story board, as the dancers and camera movement has been decided by the director. As a team we’ve worked on several solutions to attain the stylisation of background, such as testing workflows on Ai generation, using pre-existing 3D assets on government websites for scene reconstruction and different forms of 3D reconstruction.
