The Civil Engineering Development Department (CEDD) needed to engage visitors to their new multimedia space in Hung Sui Kiu to discover potential career paths within the department. As the UX/UI designer and creative, I designed a simple and self-explanatory interface with playful, approachable designs aligning with HSK visual identity. The kiosk needed to work seamlessly for diverse audiences across all ages and tech literacy levels, delivering quick and impactful engagement without staff supervision.
Traditional career information tends to be dry and text-heavy, failing to engage visitors meaningfully. The solution transformed a standard questionnaire result into a shareable experience centered around collectible cards. Visitors receive a personalized AI-generated photo featuring them in their potential CEDD role alongside the department’s lion mascot - printed as a collectible card they can take home.

The challenge was creating an experience that appeals to all ages and backgrounds while adhering to CEDD’s new branding requirements and maintaining accessibility for public use. Through competitive analysis of interactive kiosks and audience research, I developed three core UI solutions. First, I gamified the experience through game play introduction progress indicator. Second, the audio and Lion mascot animation loading screens during AI processing, transforming wait time into brand engagement. Third, the collectible card graphic is used across the background of the UI.
Utilising the wait time of printing, I’ve used this opportunity to further educate people on the different types of career options using a card flip animation and short copy when loading back to home screen.
